NBN internet provider Aussie Broadband has extended its partnership with Optus, signing a five year contract with telco.

The partnership between the companies gives Aussie Broadband the opportunity to offer Optus’ wholesale network experience. This includes access to all of its consumer, enterprise and government customers.

The two companies have signed a heads of agreement, that extends an additional five years to their already five year old partnership.

Brian Maher, group CEO at Aussie Broadband said the challenger ethos of both their brands is fundamentally why we they expanding this partnership.

"Optus was created to provide real choice to Australians, and Aussie Broadband exists to disrupt the industry on behalf of all Australians," he said.

“Optus's investment in their network and their recent MOCN has reset the playing field when it comes to coverage, and we want to help Australians capitalise on that opportunity with some great Aussie Broadband plans.”

Maher stepped into the CEO role at Aussie Broadband earlier this year, replacing co-founder Phillip Britt.

Stephen Rue, CEO at Optus commented on the partnership saying, “We offer unrestricted access to the Optus mobile network through a broad suite of products and we focus on building long term partnerships, as we’re doing with Aussie Broadband, while also being committed to providing excellence in service through a dedicated delivery team.”

Rue added, “As we continue to champion brands like Aussie Broadband by delivering more choice in the MVNO market, we are anchored by our commitment to deliver flexible products and network solutions that empower our partners customers with world class connectivity options.”

Both companies believe this partnership is a critical step in the two organisations working more closely together to bring further mobile choice to the market. It will also provide joint opportunities that include marketing collaboration for Aussie Broadband, Optus, and low-cost NBN provider, Buddy.
